Ankunft am Ziel

Wir hatten zwei harte Fahrtage, um bis nach Buenos Aires zu kommen, und dann war der Parkplatz am Hafen, auf dem wir eigentlich übernachten wollten, nicht mehr verfügbar, weil hier eine Riesenbaustelle entstanden war. Also wieder ins Hotel und am nächsten Morgen ganz früh aufgestanden, denn wir wollten die erste Fähre bekommen. Die Aufnahme auf der Prachtstraße Avenida de 5 de Mayo entstand um 6:20 Uhr.

We had two hard days to drive all the way up to Buenos Aires, and when we arrived at the parking lot, which should be our place for the night, we couldn't use it because of a huge construction work going on here. So we had to look for a hotel again and to start very early the next morning, to get on the first ferry. The photo was taken on the Avenida de 5 de Mayo at 6:20 am.

Wir waren die letzten, die auf die Fähre fuhren, als man feststellte, dass unser Auto da gar nicht hereinpasst. Aber auch das ist Südamerika: Bevor man lange diskutiert, wird es halt passend gemacht: Eine Box gelöst und nach hinten gelegt, dann ging die Klappe der Fähre zu, und das war's. Wir hatten übrigens eine der schnellsten Fähren der Welt erwischt, die mit 45 Knoten unterwegs ist.

We were the last driving on board of the ferry, when somebody noticed, that our car doesn't fit into it. But this is also South America: No big discussions, they made it fit: One box had to be moved to the back of the cabin roof so that the flaps of the Ferry could close. We were using one of the fastest ferries on earth, which reaches a speed of 45 knots.

Noch am selben Tag saßen wir 60 km östlich von Montevideo am Strand und konnten die fast letzte Etappe mit einem Gläschen Wein begießen.

So we could sit at the beach 40 miles east of Montevideo the same day and drink a glass of wine to the almost last stage of our tour.

Am Folgetag habe ich dann in Montevideo alles klar gemacht für die Verschiffung unseres Fahrzeugs zurück nach Deutschland, und nachmittags begannen wir dann mit dem Großreinemachen.

The following day I managed all the bureaucracy in Montevideo, which is necessary for shipping our vehicle back to Germany, and in the afternoon we started the cleaning procedure.

Drei Nächte verbrachten wir in Paraiso Suiza, einem von Schweizern betriebenen Strand-Resort, das von vielen Overlandern angelaufen wird. Am letzten Abend vor unserem Abschied gab es ein gemeinsames Abendessen.

Three nights we stayed at Paraiso Suiza, a beach resort operated by a swiss couple, where you can meet other overlanders. The last evening before we left we had a dinner all together.
