We have seen all the National Parks like Yellowstone and Arches NP in earlier years, and it is high season right now. So we decided to leave all those places behind and concentrate on the highlights, we haven't seen yet.
Eine solche Stätte ist Mesa Verde, wo ein sehr altes Volk in den Sandstein der Berge zwischen 550 und 1300 n. Chr. Häuser gebaut hat. Niemand weiß, woher sie kamen oder wohin sie gegangen sind.
One of those places was Mesa Verde, where ancient people built houses into the sandstone of the mountains between 550 and 1300 a.d. Nobody knows where they were coming from and nobody knows where they moved to.
Unsere nächste Etappe führte uns nach Albuquerque, NM und nach El Paso an die mexikanische Grenze.
Our next leg lead us via Moab to Albuquerque in New Mexico and to El Paso on the Mexican border.
In Albuquerque besuchten wir das historische Zentrum, wo es sehr touristisch zugeht. Die Stadt ist nach Francisco Herzog von Alburquerque benannt, der von 1653 – 1660 Vizekönig von Neu-Spanien war.
In Albuquerque we visited the “Old Town”, a very touristic area. Albuquerque was named in honor of Francisco, Duke of Alburquerque, who was viceroy of New Spain from 1653 to 1660.
It became hotter and hotter on our way south. So we bought new hats for our further journey. Looks good, don’t you think?!
