Wohlhabendes Chile

Chile ist das wohlhabendste Land in Latein-Amerika neben Panama. Die Leute sind sehr diszipliniert, der Verkehr läuft reibungslos. La Serena ist ein hübsches Seebad ganz in der Nähe von Coquimbo, einer bunten Stadt mit einem netten Hafen und dem Millenium-Kreuz auf einem Hügel.

Chile is the most prosperous country in Latin America beside Panama. People are disciplined and traffic is smooth. La Serena is a nice sea resort at the Pacific next to Coquimbo, a pittoresque city with a nice harbor and the huge millenium cross at a hill.

Wir fuhren weiter nach Santiago, der 6 Mio. Einwohner-Metropole am Fuße der Andengipfel, insbesondere des Aconcagua, den wir kaum sehen konnten, weil es zu diesig war. Chile hat 18 Mio. Einwohner und der Aconcagua ist der höchste Berg Südamerikas.

We continued our journey to Santiago, the 6 mio. people metropolis at the foot of the Andes, especially the Aconcagua, which we only could see barely because of the smog. Chile has a population of 18 mio. people and the Aconcagua is the highest mountain in South America.

Am Plaza de las Armas steht die Cathedral de Santiago, aber man findet hier nicht die kolonialen Fassaden wie in den Städten, die wir bisher besucht hatten, die Gebäude zeigen sich hier eher im Stil des Neoklassizismus.

At the "Plaza de Armas" you find the Cathedral de Santiago, but you don't find buildings in the colonial style as in other cities we have seen. Here dominates the neoclassicism.

Sehr hübsch ist das Gebäude der Postzentrale am selben Platz. Und die Stadt ist sehr lebendig mit ihren vielen Menschen von ganz unterschiedlicher Herkunft.

At the same place you find the pretty building of the central post office. Santiago is very lively with all these people from different origin.

Nach einer düsteren Periode mit dem Sozialisten Allende und der Militärjunta unter Pinochet ist Chile heute eine lebendige Demokratie. Unten der Präsidenten-Palast und Sitz der Regierung.

After a dark period with the socialist Allende and the military junta under Pinochet is Chile today a proper democracy. On the photo below you see the palace of the president and seat of the government.
